T. SURIAVELAN

T. Suriavelan (born 25 June 1992) is a Singaporean film director, television director, actor, screenwriter, lyricist, composer, and producer primarily associated with the Tamil entertainment industry. Recognized for his multi-disciplinary approach to filmmaking, he has built a career spanning feature films, television dramas, music videos, advertisements, and digital productions. Throughout his career, Suriavelan has frequently undertaken multiple creative responsibilities within a single project, including directing, writing, producing, acting, composing music, and writing song lyrics.

Suriavelan is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of 360 Entertainment Productions, a Singapore-based production company involved in film production, television programming, music videos, commercial advertising, and digital entertainment. Under his leadership, the company has produced numerous television dramas, independent films, and music productions catering primarily to Tamil-speaking audiences across Singapore and internationally.

He gained recognition through his directorial debut feature film Joe: The Black Assassin (2017), which became one of Singapore's notable independent Tamil productions after achieving a sold-out screening in a 1,000-seat theatre and completing theatrical runs in Singapore and Malaysia. His television work further established his reputation with productions such as Avathaaram, Naam, Naam 2, Mitara, and Must Date the Playboy, where he frequently served in multiple capacities including director, writer, producer, lyricist, composer, and actor.

Beyond filmmaking, Suriavelan has developed an extensive body of work as a lyricist and composer. His songs including "Oru Murai," "Thalli Pogura," "En Anbe," "Adi Penne," "Kannoram," and "Usuraiya Tholaichaen" have contributed significantly to the popularity of several television and digital productions. His artistic style combines emotional storytelling with contemporary music, making him one of the versatile creative professionals in Singapore's Tamil media industry.

Early life and education

T. Suriavelan was born on 25 June 1992 in Singapore to Tamil parents. Growing up in a culturally rich environment, he developed an early interest in cinema, storytelling, music, and performing arts. His fascination with visual storytelling eventually inspired him to pursue a career in the entertainment industry despite having an academic background outside the creative arts.

He completed a Diploma in Biomedical Engineering from Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore. Although formally trained in engineering, Suriavelan later transitioned into filmmaking, combining his technical understanding with creative expression to build a multidisciplinary career in film and television.

Career

T. Suriavelan began his professional journey in Singapore's Tamil entertainment industry as an actor before gradually expanding into directing, screenwriting, producing, composing, and lyric writing. His ability to contribute across multiple creative disciplines enabled him to establish a distinctive identity within Singapore's film and television landscape.

Over the years, he has worked extensively with Mediacorp Vasantham and independent production houses while simultaneously developing original productions under his own banner, 360 Entertainment Productions.
